With pumpkins, farm attractions and plenty of seasonal fun, it’s a great destination for an afternoon with family or friends. For those willing to venture a little farther, Noecker’s Acres in Hartington is hosting its 2nd Annual Fall Festival on October 3 from 11 AM to 7 PM.
If your ideal fall morning involves a warm cup of coffee and a little local shopping, make plans to visit the Norfolk Farmers Market. Held on Saturdays from 9 AM to noon throughout October, it’s a great opportunity to pick up fresh produce, shop local vendors and enjoy the season. You can even make a morning of it by stopping at North Fork Bread Co. for fresh sourdough or pastries.
For those looking for an evening out, Divots Oktoberfest Extravaganza is scheduled for October 17 from 5 to 10 PM. It’s another opportunity to get out, enjoy the fall season and spend time with friends right here in Norfolk.
Cozy Coffee Shops and Local Dining
One of our favorite things about Norfolk is its growing collection of locally owned businesses. When the temperatures start dropping, there’s nothing better than finding a cozy place to grab coffee, enjoy a meal or catch up with friends.
Downtown Coffee Co. & Bistro is a wonderful place to start your day. Grab your favorite coffee and enjoy the downtown courtyard before exploring the surrounding shops. If you’re in the mood for a hearty meal, Black Cow Fat Pig is a local favorite known for its steaks and comfort food.
For an afternoon pastry or freshly baked sourdough, stop by North Fork Bread Co. If you’re planning a casual evening out, Divots Brewery Taproom is another great option for enjoying local brews and seasonal offerings.
Whether you’re new to town or have called Norfolk home for years, supporting these local businesses is one of the many ways to stay connected to our community.
Family-Friendly Fall Adventures
October is full of opportunities to make memories with the whole family. In addition to its regular fall attractions, Poppy’s Pumpkin Patch is hosting a sensory-friendly Pumpkin Patch Event on October 13 from 5 to 8 PM, providing another way for families to enjoy the season.
For a weekend adventure, head to Willow Creek State Recreation Area near Pierce for A Hallowed Weekend, October 2 through 5. It’s a fun reason to get outdoors and enjoy Northeast Nebraska’s beautiful fall scenery.

More Than a House, It’s a Community
When you’re searching for a new home, it’s easy to focus on the number of bedrooms, the size of the backyard or the perfect kitchen. But finding the right place to live is about so much more than what’s inside the house. It’s also about the community around you, the places you’ll frequent, the traditions you’ll create and the memories you’ll make along the way.
That’s one of the things we love most about helping people buy and sell homes in Norfolk and Northeast Nebraska. We get to introduce our clients to a community full of local businesses, family-friendly activities and opportunities to get involved.
